The bell tower of the Romanesque church dates from the 10th century, when the Benedictine abbey of Hesse was built. A restored Romanesque gateway marks the former perimeter wall of the abbey in the village.
The church is one of the most important preserved sacred buildings in Lorraine. The village with about 500 inhabitants is located on the Rhine-Marne Canal, a district on the Saar. (Source: Wikipedia)
